Last month, the JBW team met in person for our first annual retreat. It was a time spent reflecting on who we are – both as individuals and as a team, and where we want to be in the future. We were able to dive into our values, our purpose, and our vision. We also made time for lots of laughter, relationship building, and of course, great food!
What we gained through our time together was clarity about our mission, why we are passionate about serving our families, our team’s alignment on values and growth, and that in short, we really like each other a lot! 😊
We’d love to share some of what came out of the retreat:
We believe the journey to fulfillment is achieved by getting organized, gaining clarity, and living intentionally. While it sounds simple, it’s easy to let the busyness of daily life derail these steps. It’s challenging (but exciting!) to clear the calendar, get a change of scenery, ask the hard questions, and paint a picture of what the future can hold. On the other side of this adventure, we all emphatically agree that it was time and energy well spent!
One theme that ran throughout the time together was our team’s pursuit to live authentically. Not only in being true to ourselves, but also abiding by the adage “practice what you preach.” In the same way we seek to guide our client families to fulfillment, we also want to see our team family and our families at home fulfilled. We are thrilled to see how this alignment enriches all those around us.
As the JBW team grows over the next few years, we look forward to adding people who share our values and can support our mission. Delivering financial planning with a personal touch is at the core of who we are, and our growth plans involve Andy and Chris as our main advisors for the foreseeable future. Growing our team will allow Andy and Chris to have more time to do what they do best—focus on what matters most to you and your progress towards fulfillment.
In other exciting news, this summer we are beginning an internship program and have hired our first intern! Sam Gough is a senior from the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Personal Finance. He will be helping us with financial planning and investment management projects, and we hope to give him the real-world experience to help him in the pursuit of a career.
Success at JBW is allocating our time and resources to live out our values with those we care about while using our gifts to make the world a better place. We hope you are as excited as we are for what lies ahead!
We can’t wait to enjoy the journey with you!
