Andy Avera, CFP®, CTFA, CAP®
Director of What's Possible
Andy has spent more than 25 years guiding individuals and families through the decisions that shape their financial lives. In 2017, he started the firm that would eventually become Journey Beyond Wealth. Andy loves the puzzle of financial planning and bringing together investments, taxes, retirement, estate planning, insurance, charitable giving, and all the other pieces of a family’s financial life. His goal is to bring clarity to the complex, giving families the confidence to make decisions that better align their money with what matters most to them.
As JBW’s Director of What’s Possible, Andy believes financial planning should be about much more than accumulating money or hitting a certain number. He enjoys helping families understand what their resources make possible and then finding thoughtful, practical ways to turn those possibilities into reality. His approach is rooted in servant leadership: listen first, put people ahead of the numbers, simplify the complex, and care for each family as he would want someone to care for his own.
Outside of JBW, Andy’s family is the most important part of his life. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, being outdoors, exercising, and following college sports, especially football and basketball. He is also an avid board gamer, a hobby with special significance because it’s how he met his wife. Their family has built a sizable collection of games over the years, and game nights with family and friends remain one of his favorite ways to spend time together.
